新竹縣北埔特產【膨風茶】又名東方美人茶,膨風茶等級依照古時科舉功名區分為:書僮、秀才、舉人、探花、榜眼、狀元、御品共七級,各級單價、香氣、喉潤有所差異,膨風茶之原料(茶芽)必須有一種昆蟲(小綠葉蟬,學名浮塵子)去吸允茶芽嫩葉,產生一種酵素作用,俗稱(著園),因而改變了茶葉的元素:兒茶素大幅竄昇,茶多酚的改變→膨風茶呈現了濃濃的熟果香、淡淡的蜂蜜味。噴灑農藥(小綠葉蟬)就會死翹翹,所以膨風茶是絕對沒有噴過農藥的有機茶。
