國姓鄉位於台灣中心，南投縣西北部，屬中央山脈之丘陵地帶，四面環山，中有北港、南港兩溪匯流，稱為烏溪。沿溪狹長之河谷盆地，地形獨特造就了特有山林俊秀，林木茂盛的生態。

國姓鄉農特產品豐富，近幾年尤其國姓咖啡，更是異軍突起，產量已躍居台灣咖啡之冠。國姓鄉的九份二山海拔自300公尺1000公尺，日夜溫差約10度左右，非常適合台灣咖啡生長，咖啡品質優異。利用檳榔林下間植咖啡，更讓九份二山高山咖啡打響知名度。國姓咖啡未噴灑農藥，不使用化學肥料，是純有機種植的咖啡，當天在林園咖啡主人林文宏解說下，了解國姓台灣咖啡好在哪裡了！

國姓鄉猴洞坑生態園區，觀光遊客較不熟悉，由國姓鄉市區跨過北港溪，經期洞巷往猴洞坑約莫10餘分鐘車程即達，是南投縣內少數有豐富自然原始生態的社區之一。猴洞坑自然資源保育會理事長邱金章親切解說，為持續推動生態復育，甚至嚴禁捕魚，走過望屏吊橋(大橫屏山)景色秀麗，毫無汙染，溪中魚群茂盛，顯見保育極佳。這裡也有許多罕見樹木，如巨葉榕果實環繞在樹枝或樹幹上，甚為少見。

邱理事長本身也是水鹿養殖專家，養了60幾頭水鹿，3~5月清明節前後，營養份最高，是主要採收期，一般客戶如有需要，可以事先聯絡，確定割茸日期，前往購買。新鮮鹿茸一般以台兩計價，每台兩售價約千元左右。依中藥之說法，鹿茸對氣喘、筋骨酸痛、平衡高血壓、滋陰壯陽、防止衰老、強化腎臟機能等方面具有功效。

川中島清流部落賽德克原鄉

清流部落位於南投縣仁愛鄉互助村鄰近國姓鄉，道路較為封閉、獨立、嫻靜的部落。社區目前近二百戶，清流部落（川中島）位於通往惠蓀林場主要道路，賽德克族居住的部落，為研究霧社事件餘生後裔的重要場域，部落中霧社事件餘生紀念館，是北港溪旅遊帶重要的據點之ㄧ，常有老一輩日本人組團前往弔念。

原住民傳統編織技藝，現在仍有高齡80幾歲的黃瑞香阿嬤，帶著清流社區婦女保留這項傳統技藝，因為都是純手工，織法細膩生動，產量不大，要購買得事先預約參觀。工作室電話049-2941030

一到清流部落，映入眼簾的一大片綠油油稻田，平坦山谷，遠山環抱甚是美麗，加上泉水清澈無汙染，就像賽德克族人後裔一樣，既清流又率真，尤其在清流社區發展協會總幹事畢夫場長的導覽下，充分了解當地獨特農產品，野生的馬告(Makao)又稱山胡椒，是台灣的原生植物，果實、樹葉都有芳香氣味，花可供泡茶，嫩葉可入菜，新鮮的果實可直接食用，晒乾的果實具有一般胡椒調味功能，把馬告加到咖啡豆一起研磨沖泡，是畢夫嫂的創意，馬告咖啡喝起來特別有清香味，提味咖啡，只需兩三粒，否則就掩蓋過咖啡味道了。
川中島清流米選種台粳9號，米粒清香，用清流米製作的南瓜糕、黑糖糕屬部落特有點心，爽口Q彈。

惠蓀林場面積廣達7,000多公頃，海拔從450公尺到2,400公尺不等，林場內天然林、次生林與人工林遍佈。冬季到惠蓀林場是最舒適的季節，還有眾多景點森林步道值得一走。

入住惠蓀林場宜起早，由小木屋走到觀景台，可以一覽周邊群山的天際線，再沿路走向青蛙石步道或杜鵑嶺步道，其他步道還有月桃巷、山林巷一號、情人步道、涉水步道、山嵐小徑、茶道步道…等，山徑步道平緩，漫步其中，享受芬多精森林浴，令人神清氣爽。

《台灣杉希望之樹》惠蓀林場的希望之樹，為七棵台灣杉所築構而成，為台灣最高大的樹木，是全球唯一以「台灣」為「屬名」的裸子植物。主要分布於台灣中部約1500至2500公尺高的山區。台灣杉是全球最具代表性的活化石之一，中興大學惠蓀林埸擁有台灣最大的台灣杉林相，整齊壯觀最具代表。
